Over Sasja

Al 7 jaar studeer ik bij Sasja en als het aan mij ligt zal ik dit nog lang blijven doen! Zij leert haar studenten een solide basis aan, gebaseerd op een gezonde techniek, zonder het plezier in het zingen te vergeten! Zij heeft mij geleerd om mezelf serieus te nemen, gedisciplineerd te werk te gaan, maar bovenal gaf ze me door haar eigen enthousiasme en passie voor het vak de moed om groot te durven dromen en mijn stem volledig te laten horen.

Sasja Hunnego beschouw ik als een van de meest vooraanstaande zangpedagogen van onze tijd. Tijdens mijn regiewerkzaamheden in de opera en op het Conservatorium van Amsterdam ben ik altijd weer getroffen door het hoge en constante niveau van haar studenten. Haar vakmanschap, muzikaliteit en persoon vormen een unieke combinatie. Zo is zij in staat iedere zanger de ‘vingerafdruk’ van zijn of haar eigen stem en persoonlijkheid te laten ontdekken en ontwikkelen.

Sasja Hunnego leerde ik kennen als zangeres, in het bezit van een warme stem en grote muzikaliteit.
Later kwam de vertrouwdheid met haar persoonlijk: ze is genereus en wars van dikdoenerij.
Toen ik in aanraking kwam met een aantal jonge zangers die ze had opgeleid, trof me steeds hun vakbekwaamheid en grote partijkennis.
Dat Sasja bovendien elke zanger zijn/ haar eigen stem én persoonlijkheid weet te helpen ontdekken, maakt haar tot een belangrijk pedagoog.

The Ferruccio Tagliavini competition is over. I got the audience prize, the best soprano prize and the overall 2nd prize. I am really glad. Thank you very much for all you’ve taught me over these 2 years. I learnt a lot and I am so glad to have you as my teacher. This is not what I can describe in words. I don’t feel as excited about the results as I am excited that on stage I still remember what you’ve taught me. Not to push and let the sound spin, with the aid of a proper breath. Your words are going to be useful for my whole life! Thank you very much!

It´s difficult to summarize the teachings of Sasja Hunnego in one sentence, which is why she is such an amazing teacher. I studied with Sasja for approximately my first 13 years of singing, and she gave me my base on which I´m still dependent.
Technically she works in a way that is unique to every student, able to hear what you are doing right and wrong and giving tools with which you can work and develop further by yourself. A lesson is always inspiring, not only because you get the important technical tools, and often work to remove barriers of which you yourself weren´t even conscious, but also because she allows music to be fun. It´s not only about the technique but also about the story and the musical expression. She is honest and direct, but always looking out for your best interest, which is why she is very trustworthy.
